Statement
I am a watercolor artist specializing in natural pigments. All of my paints are sustainably sourced and processed by hand, necessitating a slow, meditative practice that involves plenty of time spent outdoors. Some of my favorite pigments include charcoal, ochres, and shaggy mane mushrooms. Through my paintings, I explore naturally occurring cycles of decay and regeneration. I am fascinated by ecology and my work often features ecosystems or individual organisms in the process of recovery. Knotholes, burls, charred bark, and fire-dependent plants and fungi feature prominently in my work. Maintaining a sustainable practice is deeply important to me. In pursuit of this goal, I paint on recycled fabrics and make my own paper using plant matter and recycled mill paper.
